3D FEA Shoring Model Debug – Innovation Hub UAE
Project Overview
GeoStruXer was engaged to debug and optimise a 3D finite element analysis (FEA) model for a 14-metre deep excavation supported by secant piles, over 200 prestressed ground anchors, and raker beams. The model's intricate geometry, including struts and waling beams, introduced numerical and convergence issues. GeoStruXer collaborated with the client to resolve these challenges, ensuring reliable simulations for design validation.
Challenges
Solution Approach
Conducted an in-depth review of the FEA model setup to identify errors in boundary conditions, meshing, and material properties.
Applied advanced debugging techniques to resolve numerical instability and convergence issues.
Optimised model parameters, including mesh refinement, element size, and solver configurations, to improve computational efficiency..
Validated the revised model against expected behaviour and design requirements.
